Every two years, the BAU trade fair in Munich transforms the city into the centre of global architecture, materials, and systems innovation.
This January, it did it again, drawing in architects, planners, investors, and industry leaders from across the world. And while most attendees were there to marvel at cutting-edge advancements in construction, for Dusted, it was an opportunity to witness our creative work in action and celebrate the collaboration between our team and our long-standing client, dormakaba. We sent along Nat, Senior Account Manager, and Jack, Client Services Director to take a look…

A strategic partnership that makes places matter
With over 16,000 employees across 130 countries and a heritage spanning 160 years, dormakaba is a global leader in the access solutions market. Their participation at BAU Munich 2025 showcased their innovations through the creative assets we delivered to amplify their presence at the fair.
Dusted’s collaboration with dormakaba has long centred on our shared commitment to blending functionality with forward-thinking design. Our work for BAU was no exception, consisting of a suite of visual assets and messaging for two new product launches, all designed to bring to life dormakaba’s purpose: “For every place that matters.”
We developed key visuals aligned with dormakaba’s motto. These, exhibited at the trade fair and shared online as part of their event campaign, communicated their vision to enhance customer value and experience for a sustainable building lifecycle. As Nat explained:
dormakaba really showcased their strength as key partners in the entire access solution lifecycle, not just individual products. It was fantastic to see our messaging in action and the launch of skyra, one of the solution systems we’ve been involved in.
Driving the conversation at BAU
This year, BAU focused on key topics like resource efficiency, climate-friendly construction, and modular, productive building methods—areas that align closely with dormakaba’s ethos of innovation and sustainability. As one of the top three companies in access solutions worldwide, their stand drew considerable attention from people eager to explore how secure access can transform the built environment.
As dormakaba’s lead agency, we develop brand assets and product communications that support their core pillars (Integrated Access, Access Reimagined, Seamless Flow, and Sustainability). At BAU dormakaba revealed two new products that both pushed the industry in new directions technically, and it was our job to seamlessly communicate these to market.
Jack also reflected on the experience:
Trade fairs like BAU are about more than just showcasing products. They’re about creating a dialogue. Seeing how our messaging helped position dormakaba and their products as a thought leader in access solutions and building security was brilliant.
Insights into the future
Nat and Jack were also keen observers at BAU, gathering insights into the branding, design, and messaging across the event. Their time at the fair was a great opportunity to identify emerging trends in access solutions and building security. So, keep an eye on our Insights for a future article discussing their key findings.
Nat might look like he’s having fun, but he was on a mission: to glean the future trends shaping the architectural space.
Looking ahead
The conversations, connections, and innovations that unfolded at BAU 2025 reaffirmed that the future of the construction industry and access solutions is exciting. The emphasis on sustainability, modular construction, and integrated technology promises an exciting landscape for brands willing to innovate and lead.
As we look ahead, we’re already thinking about how these trends will influence not only our ongoing work but also how we approach projects across sectors. For now, we’re celebrating a successful attendance at BAU and our partnership with dormakaba.
